Hi There!

Welcome! Please feel free to check out our blog and comment on anything! We have lots of useful websites here. Also, we are utilizing two other blogs more frequently at this point in time. The blogs are still connected to Mrs. Springston's 4th Grade Class, but we generally use them to respond to what we are reading. Please visit us at http://www.litcirclea.blogspot.com/ and http://www.litcircleb.blogspot.com/ if you would like to see more of what we are up to!

Tanya's Reunion - Compare and Connect the Text

Dear Readers,

Today in Shared Reading you will be responding to a comprehension question that is based on two of the stories we have read up to this point, Tomas and the Library Lady and Tanya's Reunion. You will compare the two stories and make a connection between them.

You will be answering the following question with your partner.  As one person is typing, the other should be using the texts to give them information to correctly answer the question.

Question:

Both Tanya and Tomas (from Tomas and the Library Lady) visit new places. What do they learn from their experiences in those places?  And are their experiences similar in any way?

Be sure to include part of the question in your answer and completely answer the question. You will need to say the new place each person visited and what each person learned in those experiences, and also tell how their experiences were similar.  One sentence will not be enough to answer this question. Complete sentences and proper punctuation is expected. You will need to refer to both stories to fully answer the question.

Do your best and we look forward to reading your posts.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Springston and Mrs. Maestas

Dear Mrs. S and Ms. T,

In Tomas and the library lady and in Tanya's Reunion Tomas goes to the library and Tanya goes to a farm where the family reunion is going to be held. Tanya and Tomas both traveled long distances. They were both nervous and at the end they were happier. Tomas went to a library and Tanya went to a farm. Tanya was happy because she found a piece of wood that belonged to grandma and grandpa's uncle.Tomas got a book and got to tell new stories.

Dear Mrs. S and Ms. T,

At the begening of Tomas and the library lady Tomas did not what to go to the library at first because he felt nervous, but then he likes it because he gets to learn new stuff from books. Tanya felt happy to go to a new place but when she got there she didn't want to stay. Later, she has a good time with her family. They are similar because they both had fun at the place
after they went to.

Sincerely,
Tri and Justin

Dear,Mrs.S and Mrs.T
Tomas went to Iowa for the summer to pick vegtables and fruits. When he frist got to Iowa he felt not welcomed and when he was there for a while he felt welcome. He felt welcome because he went to the library and the library lady taught him how to read which was like a gift for him. Tanya went to the reunion and felt nervous and wasn't having fun but later she felt happy and liked being with her family. Tomas and Tanya are similar because they did'nt like it when they were first there and then they both liked it.

We think that Tomas learned that reading can help you learn and be smart about lots of different things. Tanya learned that she shed never say something is boring until she has experienced it.

Dear Mrs.Springston,
Tomas learned that he could go to the library when ever he wanted to and he could take home books to read to his family. Tanya learned that even though a place looks ugly, it can still be fun. Their experiences are similar because they both learned to do something when they go somewhere that makes it less boring.
