Tomas and the Library Lady: Respond to the text
Hi Class,
Today in Shared Reading we are doing something a little bit different. We are going to practice responding to comprehension questions that are based on making inferences, noting details, evaluating the characters, etc. while using technology. You and your partner will be asked to answer one of the following questions:
1) How do you think Tomas feels when he first sees the library? Give examples from the story to support your opinion.
2) Before Tomas meets the library lady, his grandfather is the family storyteller. Why does this change after Tomas starts visiting the library? Give support from the text.
3) How would you describe the library lady? What kind of person is she? Give support from the text.
4) What do you think Tomas enjoys most about reading books? Tell about your favorite book and what you enjoy most about it.
5) Tomas and the library lady become friends. What do you think they learn from eachother? (What does Tomas learn from the library lady and what does the library lady learn from Tomas?)
Be sure to put part of the question into your answer and fully answer the question. One sentence won't be enough! Do your very best and double check your work so you are sure to get it posted! If you have time, please re-read the selection.
Happy thinking and responding,
Mrs. Springston
This blog will be used for various classroom purposes among the East Elementary fourth graders in Mrs. Springston's class. We welcome the public to check out what we are doing, as well!
Hi There!
Welcome! Please feel free to check out our blog and comment on anything! We have lots of useful websites here. Also, we are utilizing two other blogs more frequently at this point in time. The blogs are still connected to Mrs. Springston's 4th Grade Class, but we generally use them to respond to what we are reading. Please visit us at http://www.litcirclea.blogspot.com/ and http://www.litcircleb.blogspot.com/ if you would like to see more of what we are up to!

Dear Mrs .S and Mrs . M,
5)On quite days the Library Lady asked Tomas if he could read with her and teach her Spanish. The Library Lady taught Tomas how to pick out books and use his imagination.

Parker and Randy
Dear Ms. S,
Tyler thinks, Tomas is worried when he first sees the library because in the book it said, “ He aproched the liberty slowly and he counted the steps on the was to the liberty.”I would be worried if I was never to a liberty before. Maria thinks that Tomas was amazed by the library because it was so big and he felt nourves because the windows look like they were glaring at him.
Your students,
Maria and Tyler
I think Tomas' doesn't need his grandfathers stories because... Tomas has the books at the library to read on this own. Tomas doesn't need his grandfather's stories. He also learned from the library lady.
Your students,
Myles and Dany
Dear Mrs. S and Mrs. M,
(1)I think Tomas feels amazed when he first sees the library because it is so big and he has never seen or been in a library. Tomas was also amazed because he wants to see what a library looks like and hes also excited because the library lady said Tomas can come in and have a drink of water.
Your students,
Aubree and Angel
Dear Mrs.S and Mrs.M,
Tomas and libray lady learn from each other. The libray lady teaches Tomas about the library and how to check out books and how to take cair of the book. Tomas teaches the libray lady words in spanish.
Your students,
Sydney and Jose
Dear Mrs.Springston and Mrs.Mastes,
1)When Tomas first sees the library, we think he feels amazed because he has never seen that many books in his life or in his country.
Youre students,

Dear Mrs.S and Mrs.M,
3] I think the library lady is nice because she let Tomas borrow two library books. She said, “I will check them out in my name.” This showes that the library lady trusts Tomas to not loes the books and rip them.
Your frined,
Azalea and Cristina
Dear Mrs. S and Mrs. M,
We would describe the library lady as a nice because she lets Tomas get a drink and check out books in her name. She is helpful because of it.
Your studints,
Elijah and Citlalli
