Hi Class,
Today in Shared Reading we are doing something a little bit different. We are going to practice responding to comprehension questions that are based on making inferences, noting details, evaluating the characters, etc. while using technology. You and your partner will be asked to answer one of the following questions:
1) How do you think Tomas feels when he first sees the library? Give examples from the story to support your opinion.
2) Before Tomas meets the library lady, his grandfather is the family storyteller. Why does this change after Tomas starts visiting the library? Give support from the text.
3) How would you describe the library lady? What kind of person is she? Give support from the text.
4) What do you think Tomas enjoys most about reading books? Tell about your favorite book and what you enjoy most about it.
5) Tomas and the library lady become friends. What do you think they learn from eachother? (What does Tomas learn from the library lady and what does the library lady learn from Tomas?)
Be sure to put part of the question into your answer and fully answer the question. One sentence won't be enough!
Do your very best and double check your work so you are sure to get it posted! If you have time, please re-read the selection.
Happy thinking and responding,
Mrs. Springston
This blog will be used for various classroom purposes among the East Elementary fourth graders in Mrs. Springston's class. We welcome the public to check out what we are doing, as well!
Hi There!
Welcome! Please feel free to check out our blog and comment on anything! We have lots of useful websites here. Also, we are utilizing two other blogs more frequently at this point in time. The blogs are still connected to Mrs. Springston's 4th Grade Class, but we generally use them to respond to what we are reading. Please visit us at http://www.litcirclea.blogspot.com/ and http://www.litcircleb.blogspot.com/ if you would like to see more of what we are up to!

Dear Mrs.Springston,
I think Tomas learned from the library lady how to read books in English. The library lady learned how to speak in Spanish because Tomas taught her.
Your students,
Jeremiah and Nasr

Dear Mrs.S
We think that Tomas feels a little scared when he first comes to the library. Here are a couple reasones why. When Tomas got to the stairs he gazed at the library he had not seen something so beautiful and so big. He wondered what a library would be like. He might have been a little neverece.
Your Friends,
Madison Nataly
Dear Mrs.Springston and Mrs.T,
The library lady is very intelligent because she finds book for him of tigers and dinosaurs. She helps Tomas when he needs a different book about different stuff. She is also nice because she gave Tomas a book for free to take home and read to his family.
Sincerely,
KJ and Sabrina
Dear Mrs. Springston,
Tomas was very nervous because he has never seen so many books before in his life. He was afraid people would not understand him or speak his language. We know he was nervous because he has never been to a library.
Your students,
Andrew and Isamary
Dear Mrs. S and Ms. T,
Grandfather was no longer the storyteller because Tomas went to the library to get books to read to his family. So he could be the family storyteller and that's how his life changed. So he didn't need his grandfather to tell him stories.
Your students,
Tri and Justin
Dear Mrs. Springston and mrs. Thumm,
We think that Grandfather is not the storyteller anymore because Tomas already knows all of Grandfather' s stories. So Grandfather wants Tomas to go to the library to chek out books and tell them new stories. Then Tomas become the family storyteller with the new stories he read about.
Sincerely,
Luke and Marisol
